Happy 17th Birthday, Jordan!!

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. (Proverbs 1:8-9, KJV)

Happy Birthday, Jordan!

It was 17 years ago today that the Lord blessed us with the birth of our first child, Jordan Christopher Jachim! What a tremendous privilege and responsibility God has given us in training Jordan according to God's Holy Word! The journey thus far has been a road filled with many precious memories as we have seen Jordan grow from the precious and highly dependent stage of infancy to the strength of godly manhood.

Reflecting back on the day of Jordan's birth, our hearts are filled with joy! Contemplating the last 17 years along with the physical, intellectual, and spiritual growth that we have seen in this young man, our hearts are filled with gratitude! As we look to the future for the Lord's direction for Jordan's dominion work, our hearts are filled with excitement and hope!

Jordan, I am so grateful to be your father and I pray that I will effectively lead you according to the perfect law of God! My prayer for you is that you will be a man of holiness, righteousness, and godliness! As you seek to live according to the way that the Lord has ordained for you, may you be diligent in fulfilling the good works that God has prepared for you, joyful as you live a life that is dedicated to the King of kings, and fruitful in impacting this world for the advancement of Christ's kingdom!

Happy 17th Birthday, my son!

Hey, just wanted to comment on Jordan's post on Bothwell Bridge. I can't comment there anonymously, and I don't have a blogger or google profile.

It's worth noting that the Cameronian Covenanters under Hackston and the Lord of Torfoot stoutly defended the bridge for an hour, even after running out of ammunition, until Sir Robert Hamilton ordered them back, hoping that presenting a united front to the enemy would be the best way to go...regrettably, most of the non-Cameronians fled...The results were uncoordinated and utterly disastrous.

I'd warn about Mark Napier if you don't already know. Let's say that he's kind of willingly ignorant. He made the singular purpose of his work defending a thuggish monster and self-styled "terror of the godly" who caught his jollies murdering and terrorizing the Lord's people (all while riding a black charger named after the Prince of Darkness), a man popularly known as Bloody Clavers, until Sir Walter Scott came along, and re-monikered him "Bonnie Dundee," which, if we are to take the Lord of Torfoot's account of the Battle of Drumclog, is a name we must deem altogether unfitting in any sense.

Sheriff Napier even went so far as to flatly deny the Wigtown martyrdoms, which are attested to by numerous sources, including the man who was sheriff of Wigtown at the time, who later went insane. Napier also whitewashed the martyrdom of John Brown of Priesthill. What exactly his argument was is hard to tell, but when one peels back the heavy layers of emotional drivel, all that remains is the sophistic plea of a defender of wickedness, which, were we to take the advice of the Proverbs, ought to be considered abominable.

Sir Walter Scott also tried to whitewash Bloody Clavers in his books, but he himself openly admitted that this was due at least in part to nepotism, as Scott had ancestors who fought at Killiecrankie.

It's hard to defend a man whose own cursing, swearing, plundering, murdering, thieving soldiers bore such hatred for him that they murdered him in battle and later stripped him naked so that he might not be recognized as who he was and get a decent burial!

You probably knew some of this, but I thought it was worth saying anyway.

Buaidh no Bas,
